PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory system having improved throughput by controlling data in a data stream so that the data stream has a selected data source and destination without closely involving any controller, performing processing of multiple pages and selection of one or more cryptographic algorithms among multiple algorithms, and cryptographically processing the data by a circuit so as to encrypt the data in multiple successive stages.SOLUTION: In a memory system cryptographically processing data from multiple data streams in an interleaved manner, a controller causes security configuration information of a session to be stored in a security configuration register 52 before a session is interrupted so that, in the case of the interruption, the security configuration information can be held so as not to be lost, and read after the interruption.
