PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce stain in a white reference region of a calibration member.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes: carrying means 311-314 for carrying a sheet 305; reading means 301 for reading an image on the sheet carried by the carrying means; a calibration member 302 having a white reference region 303 to obtain correction data for correcting image information obtained by reading the image on the sheet by the reading means; and drive means for moving the calibration means to position the white reference region at a position readable by the reading means, when obtaining the correction data, and to position other regions than the white reference region at a position opposite to the carried sheet without contacting to the sheet, when the sheet is carried.
