PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the conventional problems that, when a reading of a word registered in a dictionary differs from a reading input by a user, the input takes time because an intended candidate is not registered in the dictionary, and when a representation is selected by inputting a vaguely remembered reading, an intended predictive conversion result cannot be obtained.SOLUTION: An input support device includes: a retrieval object name dictionary for storing readings and representations; a dictionary of words with different readings for storing words having the same representation and different readings; reading/representation beginning portion matching candidate generation means for generating a list of display candidates whose readings and representations in the beginning portions match those of a selection result during a candidate narrowing-down process on the basis of subsequent display candidates retrieved from the retrieval object name dictionary with an input reading or a selected display candidate reading; word-with-different-reading retrieval means for retrieving a word having the same representation and different readings from the dictionary of words with different readings with the representation in the list used as a retrieval key; word-with-different-reading representation beginning portion matching candidate generation means for adding a result of the retrieval by the word-with-different-reading retrieval means to the list of the display candidates; and candidate display means for displaying the list of the display candidates with the result added thereto.
