Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus capable of avoiding displaying a moving image having poor video quality on a display section.SOLUTION: The image display apparatus includes: a display section 16; a determining section 4 for determining whether or not a representative image is extracted from moving image data based on a comparison result between characteristics of the display section and characteristics of the moving image data of the moving image displayed by the display section; and a display control section 18 for displaying the representative image on the display section in place of the moving image when the representative image is extracted based on the determination result by the determining section.
