PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of positively eliminating an overloaded state and preventing unlimited continuation of a lightly overloaded state.SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor includes an overload detection part (3a) for detecting an overloaded state and outputting an output signal indicating the overloaded state, an alarm part 4 for giving an alarm according to the output signal, and a control part 3 for performing operation control. According to the output signal of the overload detection part, the control part outputs a first alarm command, and a first alarm is given by the alarm part. Then, according to the continuous output of the output signal over a first prescribed time, the control part outputs a second alarm command and a notifying command, and the alarm part gives a second alarm having stronger restraining force than the first alarm, and a notifying part 5a performs notification to a station where a managing person is on standby. Thereafter, according to the continuous output of the output signal during a second prescribed time, the control part outputs an operation stopping command, and the passenger conveyor is stopped.
