PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a sense of discomfort by torque clogging or the like, by restraining electric power consumption of a power source and an output characteristic of a motor to a limit or less.SOLUTION: The electric power consumption of the power source is estimated, and output of a steering assisting motor is calculated, and when the electric power consumption of the power source is close to the limit or when the output characteristic of the motor is close to the limit, the steering assisting motor is controlled based on a smaller value of a motor current command value Iq1* corrected in response to an electric power consumption rate and a motor current command value Iq2* corrected in response to the output ratio of the motor. Since a value of changing in the more lowering direction can be applied as the motor current command value, when a sudden increase in steering torque is caused when the output characteristic of the power source and the motor originally reaches the limit when the electric power consumption rate and the motor output ratio suddenly increase, this phenomenon can be avoided in advance.
