Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a recording method which can increase speed and accuracy in edge detection of a recording medium.SOLUTION: Skew or extension and contraction of a recording medium is recognized in real time by obtaining edge positions of both ends of the recording medium during printing by an edge sensor which can detect the edge position of the recording medium at high speed with high accuracy. Drawing to a predetermined area of a recording medium is enabled even if there is the skew or extension and contraction of the recording medium, or winding gap of a roll-like recording medium etc., by performing print operation based on the drawing area recalculated based on this information, and printing accuracy can be improved.
