Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elliptically polarizing plate which includes an optical compensation plate formed of a liquid crystal layer, which is thin, which hardly induces cracks caused by a foreign substance in a cold impact test, and which hardly induces wrinkles caused by shrinkage of a linearly polarizing plate in a heat test.SOLUTION: The elliptically polarizing plate 10 is formed by layering a linearly polarizing plate 1, a first adhesive layer 5, a retardation plate 2, a second adhesive layer 6, an optical compensation plate 3 formed of a liquid crystal layer, and a third adhesive layer 7 in this order. The second adhesive layer 6 is formed of a material having a storage modulus larger than that of the third adhesive layer 7, and the elliptically polarizing plate is stuck, in the third adhesive layer side, to at least one surface of a liquid crystal cell. The first adhesive layer 5 is preferably formed of a material having a storage modulus larger than that of the third adhesive layer 7. It is advantageous that the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer are configured to have a storage modulus of 1×10N/mor more and that the third adhesive layer is configured to have a storage modulus of 3×10N/mor less. |
