Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device surely preventing the intrusion of conductive foreign matter, which adversely affects the detective operation of a torque sensor, with an inexpensive structure.SOLUTION: A gear box-side sloped surface 33 is formed at the peripheral edge of an opening 20d formed in a gear box mounting surface 20b. A cover step part 34 extends outward from the cover plate part 28 of a control unit. A slit portion 28a is formed at the distal end of the cover step part 34. The outer periphery of the cover step part is formed as cover-side sloped surfaces 35a, 36a which are brought into surface-contact with the gear box-side sloped surface while surrounding the opening when the cover plate part is moved close to the gear box mounting surface so as to mount the control unit.
