PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which an appropriate carrier content corresponding to use conditions can be known and thereby, purchasing an excess amount of the carrier is unnecessary.SOLUTION: A color printer 1 includes: a calculation unit calculating a consumed toner amount per the working time in a developing unit; a determining unit determining a carrier content recommended for a developer container mounted in a developer container mounting unit; and a display unit displaying to a user the information about the type of a developer container to be mounted on the developer container mounting unit based on the determination by the determining unit. The determining unit determines a first content when the calculated value by the calculation unit is less than a first value, determines a second content when the calculated value is larger than a second value, and determines, when the calculated value is in the range from the first value to the second value, a smaller content in the range from the second content to a third content larger than the second content with respect to the larger calculated value by the calculation unit.
