Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine a defect in an ink jet printer on a side of a service center without worrying a user about security.SOLUTION: A maintenance system comprises: a printer control device 22 that is installed on a user side and is connected to an ink jet printer 21; a maintenance device 30 that is installed on a side of a service center; and a maintenance USB memory 40 that stores a maintenance application enabling the maintenance device 30 to execute maintenance of the ink jet printer 21 by connecting a line of communication between the printer control device 22 and the maintenance device 30. When the maintenance USB memory 40 is connected to the printer control device 22 and the maintenance application is launched, the line of communication between the printer control device 22 and the maintenance device 30 is connected and the maintenance device 30 executes examination etc. of the ink jet printer 21.
