Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress evaporation of a treatment liquid from an application roller and a squeeze roller, and shorten a start-up time of an application operation even after a long standstill, in an image forming apparatus configured to apply the treatment liquid to a medium to be recorded.SOLUTION: The application device includes: the application roller 232; the squeeze roller 233; and a housing member 234 to house the application roller 232 and the squeeze roller 233 therein, having an opening 234a formed in a contact portion where the application roller 232 contacts with a conveyance roller 235, and forming a storage portion 234b to store the treatment liquid 201 therein. The application roller 232 is provided so that it may contact with or separate from the conveyance roller 235. The inner peripheral surface of the housing member 234 is formed to a shape similar to the outer circumferential surface shape of the application roller 232 and the squeeze roller 234.
