Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring steel wire having high strength and high toughness, a method for producing the same, and a spring excellent in fatigue resistance and resistance to permanent set.SOLUTION: The spring steel wire includes, by mass%, 0.5%-0.8% C, 1.0%-2.5% Si, 0.20%-1.0% Mn, 0.5%-2.5% Cr, and 0.05%-0.50% V, with the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein when the wire is subjected to low temperature annealing of 400°C-450°C×20 min, the yield stress after the low temperature annealing is higher by 300 MPa or more as compared with that before the low temperature annealing. This spring steel wire is excellent in machinability and can easily form a spring because it has low yield stress before the spring machining. Further, this spring steel wire provides a spring excellent in fatigue resistance and resistance to permanent set because it has high yield stress after the low temperature annealing assuming the distortion removal heat treatment after the spring machining. This spring steel wire can be produced by subjecting the wire material after the quenching and annealing to wire drawing of a specific reduction of area. |
