OPTICAL FIBER DRAWING METHOD AND DRAWING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber drawing method which can carry out movement control of the position of radical direction of an optical fiber immediately after drawing effectively, and a drawing apparatus for it.SOLUTION: The optical fiber drawing method carries out heat melting of an optical fiber preform 5 and drawing of an optical fiber 7, where the radical direction position of the optical fiber is detected by a fiber position detecting device, and the radical direction position of the optical fiber is controlled in a predetermined position by spraying gas on the optical fiber from outside the radial direction, by a fiber position control apparatus 11 in which the optical fiber 7 immediately after drawing in the prestage of a cooling device 4 which carries out forced cooling is installed. In addition, the gas spraying is desirable to be carried out toward the fiber from six or more gas ejecting openings on the outer circumferential circle of the optical fiber.
