PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and a method for performing more effective route search on which sunshine information is reflected in guiding a route by a navigation system.SOLUTION: In a navigation method including a search step of searching a route from a departure place to a destination according to a prescribed rule, sunshine costs are generated based on sunshine information and stagnation element information, and total costs are calculated based on basic costs set in association with the sunshine costs and map information, and a route is determined by referring to the total costs in the search step.
