Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording medium which makes recoding density high, reduces background fog, and is excellent in heat resistance, resistance to breakage and cracking, picking resistance during printing, preservability of a recording portion and recorded image quality.SOLUTION: In this thermal recording medium, an undercoat layer mainly composed of a pigment and an adhesive, and a thermal recording layer containing a leuco dye and a colorant are sequentially laminated on a substrate. The adhesive for the undercoat layer contains a styrene/butadiene/acrylonitrile based copolymer containing 1-25 mass% of methacrylic acid methyl as a monomeric component thereof, and has a glass-transition temperature of 20°C or lower.
