Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device and a manufacturing method thereof in which a necessary and sufficient amount of desiccant can be disposed even for an organic EL element in a thin and long shape.SOLUTION: An organic EL device includes: a first substrate on which an organic EL element is formed; a second substrate which has a first face opposing the first substrate and a second face on the reverse of the first face and in which a recess constituted of a bottom part and sidewall part is provided on the first face side; an adhesive bonding the first substrate and second substrate so as to surround the periphery of the organic EL element; and desiccant disposed on at least part of the bottom part and sidewall part of the recess.
