Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase strength of a masonry wall by a simple structure without damaging the masonry wall.SOLUTION: An existing roof frame 100 erected at upper ends 20UX and 20UY of a pair of brick walls 20X and 20Y disposed in an opposed manner is pulled downwards by applying a tensioning force to prestressing steel wires 150X and 150Y. Thus, a compressive force (prestress) is introduced into the brick walls 20. The introduction of the compressive force (prestress) into the brick walls 20 increases the strength of the brick walls 20. Consequently, aseismic performance is enhanced.
