PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a dishwasher that wastes no electricity after a dishwashing operation is completed, and prevents waste in washing time, as well as waste of water and electricity.SOLUTION: The dishwasher includes: a door open/close detector 9 for detecting whether a door 18 has been opened and closed; an announcing unit 17; and an operating unit 19 for executing operation such as operation start. The announcing unit 17 is configured to give notice when the following dishwashing operation is started according to the operation from the operating unit 19 without detecting the opening/closing of the door 18 by the door open/close detector 9 during a period from the completion of a dishwashing operation to the start of the following dishwashing operation. This configuration enables the dishwasher to inform a user of an improper use when the following dishwashing operation is started without the opening and closing of the door 18 detected, thus preventing waste in dishwashing time, as well as waste of water and electricity.
