SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE AND CAMERA SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device and a camera system that are adaptable to flexible thinning-out without inducing deterioration of quality.SOLUTION: A solid-state image pickup device comprises: a pixel portion 110 having plural pixels that are arranged in a matrix shape to convert a light signal to an electrical signal and charge the electrical signal in accordance with an exposure time; and pixel driving portions 130 and 140 operable to charge and output a pixel portion signal. The pixel driving portions contain a vertical reading function of alternately reading a vertical addition pixel column and a non-addition pixel column and a column reading function of switching addition and normal reading every one-line reading in accordance with scanning of a vertical reading circuit, and reads all pixels without thinning out pixels of reading target lines to thereby perform pseudo thinning-out reading addition equivalent to thinning-out by reading all pixels.
