DATA RECORDER AND DATA RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recorder which can reproduce video data sufficiently without utilizing an extension management information Moof of less compatible devices, when the management information Moov of a file does not fit within an area of a fixed length and needs to be divided, and to provide a data recording method.SOLUTION: When the recording area of a management information Moov is depleted, an extension management information Moof of less compatible devices is not utilized but the data is divided to a new file, i.e. a highly compatible MP4 file. Video data can be reproduced sufficiently by recording minimum video data while duplicating, as required, when the data is divided.
