PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator that can more accurately determine whether there is a space large enough for a person to get on.SOLUTION: The elevator includes: a plurality of distance measurement devices 2 that are provided on a ceiling 1a of a cage 1 and emit laser light 3 toward a floor 1b of the cage 1, receive the light 3 reflected after hitting a floor 1b or the passenger 4 and measures distances between which the light 3 is reflected; and a determination device 5 that determines whether there is a space that allows the person 4 get in the cage 1 by using a signal of the distance measured by each distance measurement device 2.
