PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing deterioration in productivity such as stopping of printing work by reducing the time and effort regarding exchange of a process cartridge, especially the time and effort for preparing the process cartridge.SOLUTION: It is characteristic of the image forming apparatus of this invention that notification that an end of a service life is near for a latent image unit is made when the degree of use for the latent image unit is near the end of the service life and at the same time, the degree of use for a developing unit is near the end of the service life in the image forming apparatus with the respectively freely detachable latent image unit and developing unit.
