Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of water entering space through water pores and to prevent a cylinder head gasket from being damaged when the water in the space evaporates.SOLUTION: A cylinder head gasket 1 includes an intermediate substrate 8 disposed between a first substrate 6 and a second substrate 7, and an annular shim 11 fixed to the top surface 8a of the intermediate substrate 8. The top surface 8a of the intermediate substrate 8, located outside the shim 11, is coated with a coating element 17. When the cylinder head gasket 1 is placed between a cylinder head 2 and a cylinder block 3, the volume of a space 21 formed adjacent to the outer peripheral edge 11a of the shim 11 can be reduced by an amount corresponding to the thickness of the coating element 17.
