Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize emission of radio waves by radio communication in automatic operation of a passenger conveyor to suppress the interference thereof with a radio wave of a cellular phone held by a passenger.SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor is provided with an automatic operation system which includes a sensor-side control unit having a human detection sensor and a body-side control unit having a drive control unit, and performs an operation start and operation temporary stop of the passenger conveyor. The sensor-side control unit includes the human detection sensor, a microcomputer, and a transmitting antenna, creates a control signal of the operation start by the microcomputer in response to a passenger detection by the human detection sensor during the operation stop, and transmits the control signal to the body-side control unit. The sensor-side control unit further computes whether a passenger is on the passenger conveyor by the microcomputer based on the time of the passenger detection, creates a control signal of an operation temporary stop when the computing result indicates no boarding. The sensor-side control unit does not radio-transmit both the control signals of the operation start and operation temporary stop from the transmitting antenna while a passenger is boarded.
