Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an industrially useful carbon material for an electrode capable of stably and effectively manufacturing a carbon material for an electrode having high capacity, high efficiency, high safety for an electrolyte, and high strength when used as an electrode.SOLUTION: The carbon material for the electrode on which carbide of organic compound sticks to the surface of graphitic carbonaceous material includes pores, and the pore volume having 0.1 μm or less in size measured by a mercury porosimeter is 0.05 to 0.12 cc/g in amount.
