PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance weld strength between an electrode assembly and an electrode terminal, and between the electrode assembly and a support plate for inducing short circuit by improving the design of the support plate for inducing short circuit .SOLUTION: A secondary battery comprises a case, an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode and a separator between the first and second electrode where the first electrode consists of a coating region coated with an active material and a non-coating region not coated with an active material, and a support plate located between the electrode assembly and the case. The support plate includes a first conductive plate having at least one first tab. The first conductive plate is electrically connected with the electrode assembly by at least one first tab so that the at least one first tab covers a region smaller than the entire region of the non-coating region.
