Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane-electrode assembly for a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell that has a proton conductive membrane having high proton conductivity, suppressed swelling in a hot water and reduced shrinkage in drying, achieves high dimensional stability and mechanical strength and is excellent in heat resistance and durability.SOLUTION: In a membrane-electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell provided with an anode electrode provided on one face of a proton conductive membrane and a cathode electrode on the other face, the proton conductive membrane contains a sulfonated polyarylene which has a polymer segment having a sulfonic acid group (A) and a polymer segment having substantially no sulfonic acid group (B), wherein the polymer segment (B) has a specified structural unit.
