METHOD AND PROGRAM FOR ESTIMATING THE SIZE AND POSITION OF CODE BLOCK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To understand the size and position of a code block.SOLUTION: A method for estimating the size and position of a code block is in a device which estimates, from video signals, the size of the code block indicating the sizes in the horizontal and vertical direction of a code block, which is a processing unit for the discrete cosine transform in video coding, and the position of the code block indicating the position of a boundary between code blocks. The method comprises: a step in which an edge extraction part extracting edge video signals from the video signals; a step in which a code block size extraction part extracting frequency information that indicates amplitude values corresponding to the frequency of the edge video signals and extracting the sizes of the code block in the horizontal and vertical direction based on the frequency information; and a step in which a code block position extraction part extracting the position of the code block based on the code block sizes in the horizontal and vertical direction and the edge video signals.
