POWER SUPPLY DEVICE AND LIGHTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device and lighting apparatus in which a rectifier is not destroyed even if a transitional voltage, such as a lightning surge, is applied between power source lines.SOLUTION: A power supply device 10 and a lighting apparatus 1 comprise: a rectifier DB rectifying a AC power source; a boosting chopper circuit 14 acquiring a boosted desired voltage using an energy accumulated in a inductor L1 by turning on and off an output of the rectifier DB by a switching element Q1; and a current-limiting element Z inserted between the rectifier DB and the boosting chopper circuit 14. To the current-limiting element Z, the switching element Q1 is connected in parallel, and the switching element Q1 is driven by a first drive circuit 11 that is fed back from an output of the boosting chopper circuit 14, and a second drive circuit 13 that generates an ON signal if an output voltage of the rectifier DB becomes beyond a prescribed value higher than that of a normal time.
