PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device having improved operability with decreasing a burden on an operator even in a case where two operation speeds such as a high speed and a low speed in sliding a knob of a map screen of a car navigation device are mixed.SOLUTION: The input device comprises: an operation knob (20) which is operational in an XY plane and in a depressing direction orthogonal to the XY plane; X-axis and Y-axis linear encoders (161 and 162) which detect an operation state in an XY direction of the knob (20); a two-stage momentary switch (30) which detects a depression of the operation knob; and X-axis and Y-axis voice coil motors (14 and 15) which apply a force to the operation knob. A control part (50) applies viscous drag proportional to the operation speed to the operational knob. At the same time, the control part increases the viscous drag by changing a viscous drag factor to a larger value when the two-stage momentary switch detects the depression at the operation knob. Thereby, the burden of the operator is decreased and the operability is improved even in sliding on the screen at a high speed or a low speed.
