Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for cooling an object to be cooled even when a cooling means breaks down without the need of a large-scale backup device.SOLUTION: This cooling device includes a cooling tank 3 storing an object 2 to be cooled, a water supply means 4 to the cooling tank 3, a circulation means 6 circulating water supply between a heat exchanger 5 and the cooling tank 3, a cooling means 7 cooling water passing the heat exchanger 5 by indirect heat exchange, and a control means 8. The control means 8 selectively performs the first cooling of directly heat exchanging water cooled while operating the circulation means 6 and the cooling means 7, and the object 2 to be cooled, and the second cooling of cooling the object 2 to be cooled by making water supplied to the cooling tank 3 directly exchange heat with the object 2 to be cooled by operating the water supply means 4 without operating the cooling means 7.
