CENTRIFUGAL SEPARATOR AND OPERATION METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem caused by the occurrence of a power failure in a centrifugal separator during a normal operation.SOLUTION: This centrifugal separator includes a rotation bowl for separating liquid treated into a solid matter and a separation liquid by the action of a centrifugal force, a conveyor that is arranged in the rotation bowl and rotated at a differential speed relative to the rotation bowl, a main drive motor connected to the rotation bowl, a back drive motor connected to the conveyor, a main-drive side inverter device electrically connected between a power source and the main drive motor, and a back-drive side inverter device electrically connected between the power source and the back drive motor. In the operation method of the centrifugal separator, when a power failure occurs, regenerative power generated in the main drive motor and back drive motor by the conveyor and the rotation bowl rotated by an inertia force is fed to a control power source and a power source of the back-drive side and/or the main-drive side inverter device, and the rotation bowl and the conveyor are decelerated while a state that they rotate at a relative differential speed is kept.
