PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program capable of confirming whether a character string with a proportional font is within a display region, a GUI development device, and a GUI development method.SOLUTION: A computer performing GUI development of an appliance provided with a display executes a first routine including a reading step of reading the size and a character string of a display region out of a worksheet of spreadsheet software storing the size of the display region in the display of the appliance and the character string to be displayed on the display region, a writing step of rasterizing the character string read in the reading step and writing the character string in a memory space, a detecting step of detecting whether the character string has exceeded the size of the display region based on the result of writing in the writing step, and an editing step of, in the case where the excess of the character string over the size of the display region has been detected in the detecting step, editing the worksheet so that the excess of the character string over the size of the display region is understood.
