PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system in which a holding sealing material can satisfactorily hold an exhaust gas treatment body.SOLUTION: In the exhaust emission control system, the holding sealing material 140, formed into a mat shape containing inorganic fibers, has a first side face 141 positioned on the gas outlet side of the exhaust emission control system 110 and a second side face 142 positioned on the gas inlet side, a first slanting face is formed on the first side face of the holding sealing material, the first slanting face has a first inner side end point 143a where the holding sealing material and an exhaust gas treatment body come in contact with each other and a first outer side end point 143b where the holding sealing material and a metal container come in contact with each other in a cross-sectional surface parallel to the longitudinal direction of the exhaust emission control system, the first inner side end point is positioned on a gas inlet side of the exhaust emission control system rather than the first outer side end point, and the first slanting face extends from the first inner side end point to the first outer side end point and inclined to an end surface of the exhaust gas treatment body.
