PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an isolated communication system capable of performing accurate isolated communication with a simple structure; and a transmission unit and a reception unit applied to the same.SOLUTION: This transmission unit 1 includes a transmission pulse signal generating circuit 5 which generates a transmission pulse signal d having pulses corresponding to a plurality of clock signals Clk generated in a clock signal generating circuit 8, existing between a first pulse and a second pulse which are generated in an edge pulse generating circuit 6. This receiving unit 2 is configured to decode a received pulse signal e based on the transmission pulse signal d received from the transmission unit 1 via an isolated communication unit 3, as a signal Out that transits from a first level L to a second level H when an initial pulse out of the received pulse signals e is detected and that transits from the second level H to the first level L when a subsequent pulse is not detected within a predetermined first period Td1 after the latest pulse out of the received pulse signals e is detected.
