Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the operation member of an open/shut cover in such a state that it is in normal contact with a part of an apparatus body, without being affected by the state of a position where a rotary body held by the open/shut cover is fixed, when the open/shut cover of the apparatus body is closed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: the rotary body 35 including a shaft portion entering the positioning groove of the apparatus body 10, when the open/shut cover 14 is in a close position; a rotary body retaining member attached to the inside of the open/shut cover, to be freely movable along a direction to bring the shaft portion of the rotary body out of the positioning groove; a pressure member pressing the rotary body retaining member along a direction to bring the shaft portion of the rotary body into the positioning groove; and the operation member attached to the inside of the open/shut cover, to be freely movable along the direction to bring the shaft portion of the rotary body out of the positioning groove, and when the open/shut cover is in an open position, coming into contact with the rotary body retaining member to press the rotary body retaining member in the direction to bring the shaft portion of the rotary body out of the positioning groove, and when the open/shut cover is swung to, the close position, contacted by the rotary body retaining member, thereby coming into contact with a part of the apparatus body to be made to be still. The open/shut cover and the rotary body retaining member come into contact with each other through an elastic buffering member 90.
