Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an on-screen display (OSD) method, capable of achieving high speed palette animation not based on the number of colors used in the original OSD image data, having high resolution and efficient memory, and capable of OSD expression.SOLUTION: The television receiver as this image display device includes a CLUT (color lookup table) application unit 1 and CLUT update unit 2 in an EPG/OSD/reservation processor 24. The CLUT application unit 1 divides one OSD area into a plurality of divided regions to apply a CLUT to each divided region, and then, the CLUT update unit 2 updates the CLUT, applied to achieve palette animation of a certain divided region, to a different CLUT.
