SHOCK ABSORBING DEVICE OF STEERING COLUMN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing device of a steering column allowing easy and quick assembling of an energy absorbing member and a capsule member to normal positions in a fixed bracket.SOLUTION: A folded connecting part 4u of a sliding capsule B includes guide parts 41 and fixed support parts 42. Both of locking parts 8 of the energy absorbing member C are constituted of flat surface parts 81k extended from a rear side of a planar mounting part 7 and locking projecting pieces 81 inclined upward from the rear sides. In the locking projecting pieces 81, hook-shaped swelling pieces 82 are formed. In both of the hook-shaped swelling pieces 82, guide inclined edges 82a are formed. Fixed support edges 81a are formed between the guide inclined edges 82a and the planar mounting part 7. The guide inclined edges 82a and guided inclined edges 41a of the sliding capsule B are formed in substantially parallel. An interval dimension of both the hook-shaped swelling pieces 82 is formed to be smaller than a width direction dimension of the fixed support parts 42. An interval dimension of both of the fixed support edges 81a of the energy absorbing member C is made larger than the width direction dimension of the fixed support parts 42.
