METHOD FOR PRODUCING CATALYST FOR METHACRYLIC ACID PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst used when methacrylic acid is produced by gas-phase catalytic oxidation of methacrolein by molecular oxygen and producing methacrylic acid at a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing a catalyst for methacrylic acid production used when methacrylic acid is produced by the gas-phase catalytic oxidation of methacrolein by molecular oxygen and containing at least phosphorus, molybdenum, vanadium, copper, Z elements (at least one element selected from the group consisting of potassium, rubidium, and cesium) and oxygen includes: (A) a process of preparing a mixture by adding and mixing 5 pts.mass or more and 40 pts.mass or less of hydrogen peroxide and 300 pts.mass or more and 1,200 pts.mass or less of water to 100 pts.mass of molybdenum trioxide; and (B) a process of adding residual catalyst materials to the mixture and further mixing them.
