Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for a solar cell capable of enduring a stress during a process of manufacturing a solar cell at a high temperature, has a surface capable of obtaining a light confinement effect, and is useful for manufacturing a solar cell that exhibits superior photoelectric conversion efficiency, when it is used as a base material for a flexible solar cell. SOLUTION: The base material for a solar cell, includes a base film constituted of thermoplastic crystalline resin and a coating layer provided on at least one surface thereof, wherein the coating layer is composed of a hardened material of a composition containing an inert particle and an ultraviolet curable resin; a glass transition point of the hardened material constituting the coating layer is 180 °C or higher; volume fraction of the inert particle relative to the entire volume of the coating layer is 5-20%; an average surface roughness Ra of the center plane of the outer surface of the coating layer is 5 to 150 nm; and an average spacing S between peaks of parts of the outer surface is 100-2,500 nm.
