Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in potential applied to a liquid crystal element by setting a ratio between a capacitance value of an auxiliary capacitor having a layered structure for increasing capacitance per unit area and a capacitance value of a holding capacitor so that an amount of a leakage current is minimized, by using the auxiliary capacitor. SOLUTION: A pixel circuit includes: a first transistor 401 whose one of a source electrode and a drain electrode is connected to a data line 103; a second transistor 402 whose one of a source electrode and a drain electrode is connected to the first transistor 401, the other of the source electrode and the drain electrode being connected to a first node; the auxiliary capacitor Cs connected to the node to which the first and second transistors 401 and 402 are connected; the liquid crystal element 410 connected to the first node; and the holding capacitor Ch connected to the first node. In the pixel circuit, a ratio between the capacitance value of the auxiliary capacitor Cs and the capacitance value of the holding capacitor Ch is determined so that a change amount of the potential of the first node is minimized when the first and second transistors 401 and 402 are brought into an off state.
