Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent for resins which can sufficiently inhibit the deterioration of antibacterial properties due to the thermal history in heat-kneading with a resin, resin-molding or the like, the discoloration of a resin molded product, and the lowering of the strength of the resin molded product, does not cause the corrosion of metallic equipment used and the formation of a halogenated gas, and furthermore can also impart antistatic properties to the resin molded product. SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent for resins includes a salt of a quaternary ammonium cation represented by formula (1) (wherein R1and R2may be the same or different and each a 1-3C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R3is a 10-14C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; R4is a 1-3C hydroxyalkyl group or a benzyl group) with an alkylene glycol sulfuric ester anion represented by the formula: X(R5O)nSO3-(X is a hydroxyl group or a sulfuric ester group; R5is a 2-4C alkylene group; and n is an integer of 1-35).
