METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING FILENAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a capacity of memory for storing filenames while speeding up a filename search in a method and apparatus for managing filenames. SOLUTION: A constant length extraction part 103 extracts a constant length character string from an input filename to output a constant length filename signal S103. An operation part 104 applies a checksum, CRC or similar operation to the input filename to output an operated filename signal S104. A concatenation part 105 outputs a concatenation signal S105 associating the constant length filename signal S103 with the operated filename signal S104 to hold and store the concatenation filename in a filename storage part 106. In a search through a plurality of stored filenames for an arbitrary filename, it is matched against the results of operation in the operation part 104. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
