CONTENT TRANSMISSION/RECEPTION SYSTEM AND AUTHENTICATION METHOD IN THE CONTENT TRANSMISSION/RECEPTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transmission/reception of content to/from an unauthorized counterpart device or person. SOLUTION: A content transmission device 1 transmits a reception-side capability notification request to a content reception device 2 (S1). The content reception device 2 transmits a reception-side capability notification response to the content transmission device 1 (S3). The reception-side capability notification request is transmitted to inform that a capability of the reception device is to be notified; the reception device is to be authenticated (authentication of the reception device is required), and a recipient is to be authenticated (recipient authentication is required). The reception side capability notification response is transmitted to inform the capability of the reception device, necessity of transmission device authentication (authentication of the transmission device is required), and necessity of transmitter authentication (transmitter authentication is required). The content transmission device 1 checks whether the capability of the reception device is sufficient.
