METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING MOISTURE ABSORBENT AND MOISTURE ABSORBENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture adsorbent thermally regenerable and having a large capacity of releasing water and a method for manufacturing the moisture adsorbent. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a moisture adsorbent 1 involves forming a metal compound 3 having deliquescence on the surface of a zeolite 2 having at least one kind of metal cation selected from the group consisting of calcium, lithium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium by allowing chemical reaction of the metal cation of the zeolite 2 with at least one kind of gas molecule selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and chlorine in a vapor phase. The moisture adsorbent manufactured by the method keeps the metal compound having deliquescence without dripping the liquefied metal compound even under high humidity and a large capacity of releasing water and is thermally regenerable.
