PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal device capable of preventing transmission and reception of a recorded high definition video from being aborted as much as possible and which enables exact playback on the receiving side to be expected. SOLUTION: When a playback operation is performed by a user, an imaging unit 103 starts capturing images, and video data based on image data obtained by capturing images is stored in a buffer of a memory unit 104. A control unit 102 writes the video data stored in the buffer in a newly opened image file. When the capacity of the image file reaches a limit capacity, the control unit 102 closes the image file and newly opens an image file. The control unit 102 also writes video data to the opened image file. The control unit 102 creates information (image file information) for the generated image file and enters the information in an image management table 202. When a plurality of image files are generated, the control unit 102 stores information indicating the playback order of the respective image files in the image management table 202.
