IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can reduce a time period used for rotation of an intermediate transfer body required before toner patch formation and a time for measurement of the toner patch density performed while continuing the rotation operation. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a density sensor 42 which is disposed on the upstream side in the conveying direction of the intermediate transfer body 27 from a transfer position, and which reads the surface of the conveyed intermediate transfer body 27; and a density sensor 41 which is disposed on the downstream side in the conveying direction of the intermediate transfer body 27, and which reads the surface of the conveyed intermediate transfer body 27. Output from the density sensor 42, which is used as a ground profile, and output from the density sensor 41, which is used as a toner patch profile, are respectively stored in a memory 601. Then, the toner density of the toner patch transferred onto the intermediate transfer body is calculated based on the ground profile and the toner patch profile stored in the memory 601.
