Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper for a vehicle seat which allows comfortable manual rotation of a backrest part without being affected by the rotating force due to self-weight of the backrest part and surely obtains a function of a spiral spring over the long term. SOLUTION: A rotary damper 1 for a vehicle seat consists of a housing 3, a rotor 7 disposed so as to be rotatable with respect to the housing 3, a vane means 8 disposed in a space 6, a spiral spring 14 imparting an elastic rotating force to a seat part 11 of a vehicle seat 10 at one end 9, and a reactive force receiving means 24 having a regulation surface 23 for regulating the diameter expansion of the spiral spring 14 to be within a specific range.
