PRINTING SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD FOR PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a standby state of a printer to such an extent that control of each country and control of every kind are cleared while maintaining an interface with external equipment to be in an effective state. SOLUTION: A plurality of print engines are detachably attached to a communication controller of the printer. In the printer standby state where power of the plurality of print engines is reduced while maintaining a communication function of the communication controller, when receiving a start command of printing operation from the external equipment, the communication controller controls the print engine selected to comply with the received start command of the printing operation to be in a printing ready state from the printer standby state by reset processing, and when receiving a print request command including print data using bulk-out transfer, it sends the print request command to the selected print engine in a command state as it is without changing the content.
